Obituary for Harry Rubin

Dr. Harry Rubin (1929-2009) of Tenafly, New Jersey, Kailua, Hawaii and Bangkok, Thailand died peacefully on November 9 in a hospital in Bangkok.   He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Sandra, his sons Charles and Neal, daughters in-law Dao and Amy, and granddaughters Sophie, Ella, Zoe and Zara.

Dr. Rubin grew up in New York City, and graduated from The Bronx High School of Science, New York University, and New York University Medical School.   A hematologist by training, Dr. Rubin was Professor of Clinical Medicine at Mount Sinai Medical School in Manhattan and Director of Ambulatory Care at Elmhurst Hospital in Queens.   He loved medicine, and was grateful for the privilege and responsibility to practice and teach medicine for many decades.   He was an extraordinary husband, father, grandfather, doctor, professor, coach and friend who possessed remarkable intelligence and compassion, in equal measure.

Donations can be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International, http://www.jdrf.org/
